Cisgenderness and the politics of enunciation in Brazilian transfeminism
Abstract
In this article, we discuss the notion of cisgenderness under the Brazilian transfeminist perspective, having as axis of analysis the enunciation politics that constitutes the field of knowledge of sexuality and gender. Some questions trigger the discussion: which subjects were produced as objects of knowledge? Which discourses are authorized? Is the knowledge of transgender people about themselves legitimized or, with excessive frequency, put under suspicion? When we talk about gender, who talks and who is talked about? The Brazilian transfeminist thinking, through the use of cisgenderness as an analytical category, problematizes the epistemological asymmetry between those who are subjects and those who are produced as objects of knowledge. In that sense, it can be said that the notion of cisgenderness inaugurates a new context of enunciation, as its use implicates a displacement in the traditional epistemic structure that constitutes the fields of production of knowledge about gender.
