The Phenomenon of Precarization and Flexibilization of Labor in the Brazilian Public University: a Case Study on Substitute Teachers

Abstract

This paper consists in the research report on the phenomenon of precarization and flexibilization of labor in the Brazilian Public University, researching the work experience of substitute teachers. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and the data were built from the Sociological Analysis of Speech. We propose to investigate the role occupied by work in the life of such teachers and which evidences of precarization and flexibilization is made clear by them in their professional practice. Furthermore, we intend to collaborate with discussions on the processes of subjectification through work, investigating the impacts alluded by substitute teachers in their subjective constitution. In this Context, temporality holds privileged resource of understanding the transformations that characterize contemporaneity.
