Español "Follatemallorca": A forum to learn how to pay for sexual services
Abstract
Paying men for sex is an invisible and anonymous practice, but the existence of virtual platforms where sexual services are offered or experiences are exchanged is a phenomenon that has gained presence since the emergence of the internet. Internet forums are shown as a space where men can express their experiences and be enriched by the interaction with other consumers. I will explore the experience of paid sex in the Balearic Islands through semi-structured interviews with 18 men who have paid for sex, 6 of whom are regulars on the forum "follatemallorca". The results show that men who participate in the forum may be a minority of the universe of men who pay for sex. In addition, participation in the forum allows for learning and improving the experience of paying for sex, as well as allowing interaction with other consumers while maintaining anonymity.
