Review of Han (2017) Transparency society
Abstract
The work of Byung-Chul Han (2017), Society of Transparency, is presented to the reader by brilliant titles that refer to the positive society, passing through the tangle of cultural production of the society of the exhibition, following to the society of evidence, pornographic society, society of acceleration, society of intimacy, society of information, society of uncovering, until culminating in the society of control. It is a book with accessible and didactic language, which portrays and updates the knowledge grounded in the very political nature of life in society, which excluded the (re)constructive and critical dimension of the sociocultural processes of human recognition. The theme of transparency points precisely to a society of distrust, freedom of information, the death of desire, which has made the moral values of sincerity and honesty fragile, due to excessive control.
