Representations of Love in Movies: opening the “Medianeras” in the era of connections

Abstract

In this article, we intent to observe how the representations of love are engendered on a film narrative and analyze the possible changes in those representations. The study design is qualitative, empirical-theoretical. The corpus of analysis consists of the narratives of film production entitled Medianeras – Buenos Aires na era do amor virtual. The interpretation held on a psychosocial perspective. The narratives indicate different paths to love, that are built based on the triad I-alter-world. Even though it has no single format, love insists, revealing itself in the urban architecture, including the medianeras.

Adriane Roso, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria - UFSm

Professor at Universidade Federal de Santa Maria - UFSM. She got her degree in Psychology at Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (1991). Her Master degree in Social and Personality Psychology was achieved at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul PUCRS (1998), the same university she got her Ph.D in Psychology (2005). She was a visiting scholar at the Mailman School of Public Health, Department of Sociomedical Sciences, Columbia University (Jan 2001- Jun 2002). She has been working in the area of Social Psychology, focusing in Health Psychology. Her researches interests are especially on HIV/AIDS, human resources in health, gender, media, and use/abuse of drugs.
