A Phenomenological and Narrative Approach to the “Journals” of the writer Alejandra Pizarnik
Abstract
We carried out a phenomenological and narrative analysis of the journals of writer Alejandra Pizarnik. We analyzed descriptions of her experiences as a psychiatric patient, and the changes reported in her physical experiences as well as existential orientation. This is an inductive enquiry based on the phenomenological and narrative analysis of a historic case study. Based on our results, we suggest some phenomenological categories which might be vital to our understanding of certain mental illness pathologies. Keywords
