Abstract
To think about the body is to think about a paradox: it is a place, a process of dispute between objectivity and subjectivity, between the human and the non-human, between art and science. To speak of the body is to speak of this great paradox, in constant flux because the body is a BEING, which carries our memory, our times (or our time), and our sensibilities. Defined as this “carrier” of a permanent process, full of memories and sensibilities, it brings in its existence the materialization of humanities. Thanks to communication technologies, the body today can be in many places. The interior of the body can be minutely transparent and translucent and, more importantly, visible in its organic interiority. New medical and scientific technologies and increasingly smaller and more effective objects are capable of exploring this fluid space, once full of secrets. Gain in complexity: the body is thought of and traversed by different technologies. It has become virtual.
