Mexican Nationalism, theoretical aproach, critique and analysis
Abstract
In this articleI analize the prime theoretical arguments around the nationalism concept, from the modernist position, as well as the historic-culturalist position, and contrast them with the studies of specialists of mexican issues, to understand what has been said about mexican nationalism. At the very core of the debate, lies the State- nation concept, and it’s interference in the development of collective identities; also, cultura as an integration agent of those identities. From that contrast, I seek to dilucidate the way mexican nationalism was built, explain it’s contents and what’s behind the phenomenom. Keywords
