'Rights agenda' in Uruguay. Event, biopolitics, immunity and force of law
Abstract
The approval and subsequent implementation in Uruguay of a set of novel initiatives after 2013 (regulation of marijuana, legalization of abortion, equal marriage and others) presents several interesting aspects from a "biopolitical" perspective: the origin of these legislative changes, finally an "event", a wave of protests; the crucial and ambivalent nature of age relations following this new agenda; the entrance into the scene of governmentality and regulation of life; some immunization procedures that maintain new limits after incorporation. Finally, it shows the existence of a state of emergency, where the differential forces dispute the exercise of the law after its legislative approval. Keywords
