Criminalization of Mapuche resistance and politics of fear

Abstract

In this article we will reflect on the growing criminalization of protest and demands of the Mapuche people in southern Chile, while the State politics of fear, from harassment and imprisonment of their ancestral authorities: the machi. Specifically board for Pilmaiquén: occupation of sacred space Ngen Mapu Kintuante by the hydroelectric Pilmaiquén S.A. for the construction of a dam, and the imprisonment of Millaray Huichalaf machi, who has led in recent years, the struggle against this mega project.
